Step 1: Gather Your Supplies
Before starting, make sure you have the following items:
- A Brother sewing machine
- A spool of thread
- A needle suitable for your fabric
- A bobbin with thread
Step 2: Raise the Needle
Locate the handwheel on the side of your Brother sewing machine. Turn it towards you (counterclockwise) to raise the needle to its highest position.
Step 3: Thread the Upper Spool
Take your thread spool and place it on the spool pin. Make sure it is secure. Pass the thread through any thread guides or tension disks provided by your machine, following the threading path indicated in your machine’s manual.
Step 4: Thread the Take-up Lever
Locate the take-up lever, a small metal hook that rises and falls as you sew. Thread the thread through it from right to left.
Step 5: Thread the Needle
Thread the end of the thread through the eye of the needle from front to back. Make sure you leave a tail of a few inches.
Step 6: Pull the Thread
Gently pull the tail of the thread to ensure it is securely threaded through the needle.
Step 7: Thread the Bobbin
Make sure the sewing machine is off. Take your bobbin and place it on the bobbin winder. Follow the instructions in your machine’s manual to wind the bobbin correctly.
Step 8: Insert the Bobbin
Open the bobbin case and insert the wound bobbin, following the directions provided by your machine’s manual.
Step 9: Test the Stitch
Lower the presser foot and turn on your sewing machine. Hold both the upper thread and bobbin thread together towards the back of the machine. Slowly start sewing a few stitches on a scrap piece of fabric to ensure the threads are properly threaded and the stitch looks correct.
Note: Always consult your sewing machine’s user manual for specific instructions and troubleshooting tips related to your particular model.
Congratulations! You have successfully threaded your Brother sewing machine needle. You are now ready to start sewing your next masterpiece!
