Step-by-Step Instructions

Measure your waist and hips to determine the width and length of the fabric needed, considering seam allowances.
Using your measurements, cut a rectangular piece of fabric for the skirt.
Fold the fabric in half, right sides together, and sew the side seam. Finish the edges with a zigzag stitch or serger.
Measure and cut a piece of elastic band according to your waist measurement. Attach the ends together using a zigzag stitch.
Pin the waistband to the top edge of the skirt, matching the raw edges. Sew them together, stretching the elastic band slightly to fit.
Try on the skirt and determine the desired length. Fold the bottom edge of the skirt twice, pin, and sew to create a neat hem.
