Easy Sewing Project: Table Runner
Materials Needed:
- 2 yards of fabric (choose a fabric that matches your table’s style)
- Coordinating thread
- Fabric scissors
- Measuring tape or ruler
- Sewing machine (or you can hand sew, but it will take longer)
- Pins
- Iron
Sewing Steps:
- Step 1: Start by measuring your table’s width and length. Add about 12 inches to each dimension to allow for overhang on each end.
- Step 2: Cut the fabric to the desired dimensions using fabric scissors, ensuring both ends are straight.
- Step 3: Fold and press the edges of the fabric, about ¼ inch, to create a clean edge. Secure with pins.
- Step 4: Sew along the pressed edge, removing the pins as you go. Use a simple straight stitch for this step.
- Step 5: Once all edges are stitched, fold and press the edges again, this time about 1 inch, to create a wider border. Secure with pins.
- Step 6: Sew along the folded edge, removing the pins as you go. This stitch will be more visible, so choose a coordinating thread color.
- Step 7: Give your table runner a final press with an iron to smooth out any wrinkles.
- Step 8: Place your new table runner on your dining or coffee table, and enjoy the added touch of style it brings!
Looks like a great project.-
