Before you start sewing, make sure you have the following materials:
- 1.5 yards of fabric of your choice
- Coordinating thread
- Fabric scissors
- Pins
- Sewing machine
Wash and iron the fabric to remove any wrinkles. Then, fold the fabric in half, right sides together, and cut out the apron shape using a template or freehand.
With the right sides still together, sew the sides of the apron using a 0.5-inch seam allowance. Press the seams open, and then sew a zigzag stitch along the edges to prevent fraying.
Measure and mark the desired strap positions on the top of the apron. Cut two long strips of fabric, fold and iron them lengthwise, then sew them onto the marked positions.
Turn the apron right side out and press it flat. Sew along the edges, about 0.25 inches away, to create a neat finishing touch. Trim any excess threads.
Sewing a beautiful and practical apron doesn’t have to be complicated. By following these easy steps, you can create a lovely apron that reflects your personal style. Happy sewing!
